This lost classic, shot on 16mm in a wintry Berlin in 1993, explores the origins of the now monumentally massive German Trance and Dance music scene.

With interviews with luminaries such as Dr Motte, Paul van Dyk, Laurent Garnier, Paul Browse, Mijk van Dijk and MFS label supremo Mr Mark Reeder this now legendary exploration into the underworld of what was the most significant force in driving dance music forward in the 20th century. It contains rare early footage of the 1991 and 1993 Love Parade, and of the now bulldozed Mutoid Waste Company land, E-Werk and Tresor - Berlin's legendary (and now closed) clubs that started it all in the former East Berlin.

Directed by Ben Hardyment, this documentary is imbued with an uplifting and extremely positive energy - there are rumours of a film sequel in the pipeline, but for now, sit back and enjoy 25 minutes of pure trance music history.

when buying laundry detergent at the store, be sure that its actually detergent, and not fabric softener. the seventh generation and bottles are the same color. i'm used to and . i made the mistake when buying it off the shelf, and got two bottles at the time.. and then never really looked at it closely again until i had had bought "more". doh! at least there were no ill effects, other than my clothes being nice and soft :)

He attacked those in the press who claim that the shake-up at the White House was merely re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. 'This administration is soaring, not sinking,' he said. 'They are re-arranging the deck chairs--on the Hindenburg.'
Colbert told Bush he could end the problem of protests by retired generals by refusing to let them retire. He compared Bush to Rocky Balboa in the 'Rocky' movies, always getting punched in the face--'and Apollo Creed is everything else in the world.'

so this past year, for my birthday, my mom gave me a gift membership in the weston a. price foundation, a foundation created to honor the legacy of dr. weston a price, who is so popular that he doesn't have a wikipedia page yet. (i didn't ask for this membership, rather my mom just gave it to me after her prior gift of a shirt that was too big and a tie that pintuck didn't approve of didn't work out).

they send out this big fat magazine/newsletter thing quarterly, and the fall 2005 issue just arrived this past week (yea, fall 2005 in winter 2006, wtf). naturally it found its proper place on the back of the toilet in the bathroom, as something to page through when taking a crap.

so, i happened to be reading it this morning, and the food feature this month is about cooking cocks and balls, lovely! the testicle recipes are adapted from 101 testicle recipes & fun facts (obviously a site devoted to healthy eating), and here is how to make penis stew.

Wasp performs roach-brain-surgery to make zombie slave-roaches: "Cory Doctorow: Ampulex compressa is a wasp that has evolved to tackle roaches, insert a stinger into their brains and disable their escape reflexes. This lets the wasp use the roach's antennae to steer the roach to its lair, where it can lay its egg in it. Parasite Rex author Carl Zimmer tells the story in gooey, graphic detail:
The wasp slips her stinger through the roach's exoskeleton and directly into its brain. She apparently use ssensors along the sides of the stinger to guide it through the brain, a bit like a surgeon snaking his way to an appendix with a laparoscope. She continues to probe the roach's brain until she reaches one particular spot that appears to control the escape reflex. She injects a second venom that influences these neurons in such a way that the escape reflex disappears.
From the outside, the effect is surreal. The wasp does not paralyze the cockroach. In fact, the roach is able to lift up its front legs again and walk. But now it cannot move of its own accord. The wasp takes hold of one of the roach's antennae and leads it--in the words of Israeli scientists who study Ampulex--like a dog on a leash.
The zombie roach crawls where its master leads, which turns out to be the wasp's burrow. The roach creeps obediently into the burrow and sits there quietly, while the wasp plugs up the burrow with pebbles. Now the wasp turns to the roach once more and lays an egg on its underside. The roach does not resist. The egg hatches, and the larva chews a hole in the side of the roach. In it goes.
The larva grows inside the roach, devouring the organs of its host, for about eight days. It is then ready to weave itself a cocoon--which it makes within the roach as well. After four more weeks, the wasp grows to an adult. It breaks out of its cocoon, and out of the roach as well. Seeing a full-grown wasp crawl out of a roach suddenly makes those Alien movies look pretty derivative.

i'm a happy netflix customer, have been for awhile. the supposed "throttling" of people's rental queues has never been an issue to me. i rent weird shit and not frequently enough. when i got the email about the settlement yesterday, i realized that it was a crock of shit.

thankfully, someone took the time to setup a website, The Netflix Settlement Sucks. it has some explicit details on the shittyness of the settlement, as well as a PDF of the letter you need to send to opt out.. so go do it!

someone from bishop kenny just called the house for you. dad gave me the phone and told me to give them your number. i thought it was odd, it being in the evening and all. so i started telling the lady your number but she thought it was a 904 and kept on asking me what the final digit was after the first six. she was a dumb bitch. after i explained to her that you were out of state, she then repeated a confused number back to me (one which was not your number) and i told her to try that. she called back in the time it took me to open a beer. so i told her your number again, this time with the last digit wrong. she called again and dad picked up the phone. i'm assuming he had the proper number ready by then. *shrugs* i tried to save you from being hassled . . . oh well.

... which is really funny. i just got a phone call from an unexpected 904 number, low and behold, bishop kenny it was! the woman on the phone asked if i was interested in giving money and i immediately asked to be placed on their do-not-call list. she seemed shocked, and started to pitch more, so i re-iterated and bid her good night. i was wondering how they would have gotten my number, pintuck said it was likely my parents, and lo and behold, it was. silly me for thinking they might have done something like search for me on the internet to find me.
